    Admission internationale, A2 et A3

    A1 internationale

    • diplôme secondaire équivalent ;
    • spécialité ou enseignement en mathématiques ;
    • dossier académique ;
    • niveau d’anglais ;
    • tests digitaux ;
    • vidéo ;
    • entretien individuel.

    A2

    • 60 ECTS ;
    • première année d’enseignement supérieur validée ;
    • capacité à rejoindre le socle scientifique et managérial.

    A3

    • 120 ECTS ;
    • parcours antérieur en mathématiques, informatique ou ingénierie ;
    • niveau suffisant pour rejoindre des enseignements avancés.

    Les quatre preuves indispensables

    Le candidat doit apporter :

    1. une preuve quantitative, par exemple résultats, olympiades, projet scientifique ou rigueur acquise ;
    2. une preuve de programmation ou de curiosité technique, même débutante ;
    3. une preuve de travail collectif ;
    4. une réflexion sur un enjeu responsable de l’IA.

    Le pitch de 90 secondes

    “My name is [name], and I am currently studying [subjects or degree]. I have developed a strong interest in data science through [specific experience], where I learned [skill or insight]. What attracts me is not only the technical performance of models, but the way they influence business decisions and people’s lives. I am applying to this BSc because the joint structure between emlyon and École Centrale de Lyon would allow me to combine rigorous mathematics and computer science with management and responsibility. I would particularly like to explore [track or topic], and I could contribute through [project, teamwork or association evidence].”

    Pourquoi ce BSc et pas une école d’ingénieurs classique ?

    Réponse forte

    “I do not see engineering and management as competing options. I am interested in the point where technical choices become organizational decisions. A model may be statistically strong but impossible to deploy, poorly understood by users or ethically unacceptable. This BSc appeals to me because I want enough technical depth to understand and build data solutions, while learning how to evaluate their business value and social consequences.”

    Pourquoi ce BSc et pas un bachelor de management classique ?

    “A traditional management program would not give me the mathematical and programming depth I am looking for. I want to be able to understand how models are built, what assumptions they rely on and where they fail. I do not want to manage technology from a distance.”

    Questions techniques accessibles

    Le jury n’est pas nécessairement un examen oral de mathématiques, mais un candidat doit savoir expliquer simplement :

    • différence entre corrélation et causalité ;
    • rôle d’un échantillon ;
    • biais dans les données ;
    • surapprentissage ;
    • entraînement et test ;
    • algorithme ;
    • modèle ;
    • probabilité ;
    • moyenne et médiane ;
    • pourquoi une précision globale peut masquer une injustice ;
    • pourquoi une donnée n’est pas automatiquement objective.

    Questions d’éthique et de responsabilité

    1. Un algorithme peut-il être neutre ?
    2. Faut-il expliquer toutes les décisions automatisées ?
    3. Qui est responsable lorsqu’un modèle se trompe ?
    4. Une entreprise doit-elle utiliser toutes les données qu’elle peut légalement collecter ?
    5. Comment mesurer le coût environnemental de l’IA ?
    6. Peut-on sacrifier un peu de performance pour plus d’équité ?
    7. Comment traiter les biais historiques dans un jeu de données ?
    8. L’IA va-t-elle remplacer les managers ?
    9. Faut-il interdire certaines applications de reconnaissance faciale ?
    10. Comment protéger un utilisateur sans bloquer l’innovation ?

    Méthode de réponse à une question d’IA

    E-t-h-i-c

    ÉtapeContenu
    E, ExplainDéfinir le problème simplement
    T, Trade-offsIdentifier avantages et coûts
    H, HumansNommer les personnes affectées
    I, InstitutionsExaminer règles, contrôle et recours
    C, ConclusionDonner une position conditionnelle et applicable

    Exemple

    Question : “Should companies use AI to recruit employees?”

    “AI can help companies process applications consistently and identify patterns that humans may miss. However, historical recruitment data may reproduce past discrimination. The people most affected are candidates who do not fit traditional profiles and may never know why they were rejected. I would therefore allow AI as a decision-support tool, provided that the model is audited, candidates are informed, human review remains possible and there is a clear appeal process. The central issue is accountability, not automation alone.”

    Architecture de réponse

    • reconnaître le fait ;
    • expliquer sans se déresponsabiliser ;
    • montrer la méthode actuelle ;
    • fournir une preuve de progression ;
    • relier la motivation à un effort concret.
